New Technology – New Government addresses opportunities, challenges and threats new technogoly and it’s adoption on state level exhibits. While the disruptive element of so called web 2.0 seems to frighten many officials I perceive them as a great chance to make state actions more transparent facilitating the open society Popper was talking about.
I studied Politics and Public Administration in Germany and Estonia. During my semester in Estonia I realised what potential new technology has if used properly to enhance the relationship between citizens and its public officials or at least can ease everyday life. Right now I am studying Information Management in the Netherlands and write my final thesis about behavioural aspects in IT projects. I propose a crisis cycle based on behavioural biases which facilitate project failure.
In the last years I was involved in different IT projects such a vendor selection processes, database modelling and ERP implementation. Additionally I gained insights in the everyday work of the German parliament.
Currently I set up twitter lists of MPs on state, nation and EU level. It’s interesting to see what MPs talk about and also do not talk about.
